Thick-Knees

Thick-knees are large shorebirds with large eyes, massive bill, long legs and cryptic plumage. One species is a rare resident of remote offshore islands in Bornean Malaysia.

    Sparse records from islands off the east coast of Sabah, and one intriguing recent record from Bako NP, Sarawak. Large shorebird with massive chisel-like bill, yellow legs, eyes and bill base. Bold dark and white head, and wing pattern in flight. Secretive and shy. Often rests during the day and forages at night.
